NRA Home Firearm Safety Course
Concealed Handgun, License to Carry
One of the main requirements to obtain a CHL in oregon is:
• Completion of any firearm safety or training course available to the general public offered by law enforcement, a community college or private or public institution or organization, or firearms training school, if the instructors were certified by the NRA or a law enforcement agency and if the course had a handgun safety component.
• Complete a handgun safety class taught by an NRA certified instructor. Certification or card issued must be presented at the time of your scheduled appointment.
This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate. (Lesson Plan 6-90, reprint 12-08).
In the state of Oregon it is Unlawful to be in the possession of a firearm knowingly carrying a firearm upon their person or possessing an Handgun that is concealed and readily accessible to a person within a vehicle. To legally carry a concealed handgun you must obtain a License to Carry a Concealed Handgun.
Also as an option, we will offer training and application packages to obtain a non-resident concealed carry permit for the states of Utah, Florida and Arizona (which are recognized in 40 0r more different states).
